It's June, so let's celebrate writing with a Pride History present.
This writer was Black, gay and young during the AIDS epidemic and strove to integrate all identities to create a functional self not defined by sexuality or race.
Hemphill's writing was also in motion pictures such as "Tongues United" (1989), "Looking For Langston" (1988), and "Black is...Black Ain't" (1994)
