This writer is one of the first people of Asian descent to publish a novel in America (along with her sister who we already featured in a past episode).
Even though her mother was Chinese, she chose to write about Japanese characters and use a Japanese pseudonym, with some of her work turned into Broadway plays or motion pictures.
