  • Lin Bo is a software engineer, actor, and painter in Chicago, where he has lived his whole life. He has been fortunate to have many amazing teachers and mentors inspire and guide him to write since grade school.  Author of “Iceman” in Shades of Horror & Strangeness; “Foreigner” in Shades of Transition & Transformation

  • Fannie Price resides in the Chicagoland area and enjoys creating stories that bring her hometown and other cities to life. “Siren” (in Shades of Horror & Strangeness), introduces readers to Veronica Sykes, prior to the challenges she confronts in After the Flesh, the debut novel of Fannie’s Dragon Rider series. SUBMISSION OPEN CALL

WRITE VOLUMES is currently accepting quality submissions for its next anthologies that will be published in late 2020. Seeking fiction, poetry and creative nonfiction between 500-6000 words.

Current Theme:
  • Chicago (reflect on the city, expats exploring)


Other info:
Our Shades Of Anthologies tend to take place from an American identity perspective. How you view American identity is up to you. You can tell a story from your heritage, or some strange tale that happened to you in America based on your gender, ethnicity, something unique to you and how that conflicts, bridges, or harmonizes with American identity. 
  • Please provide a 2-3 sentence synopsis at the beginning of your piece.
  • No simultaneous submissions unless you retain the copyright.
  • Email submission as a Word document to: writevolumes@gmail.com by August 31, 2020
  • No entry fees
  • If chosen, payment is one contributor copy (emailed as a pdf but you can download the Kindle version of the book on one of the free days)



Future theme will be passion horror (the horror of love gone wrong, fatal obsessions of people, objects, or ideas, the horror and fury of desires gone awry).
